Man Of Steel costumes revealed
Warner Bros showcases various takes on Superman's costume, as it drums up interest in next year's Man Of Steel...
Next year's collection of summer blockbusters, much like this, has a trio of comic book heroes at their heart. In the case of summer 2013, it's the return of Iron Man, Wolverine, and the big screen reboot of Superman, in Man Of Steel.
Man Of Steel is in post-production, under the watchful eye of director Zack Snyder, and the new Superman film isn't due to be released until next June. However, don't be surprised if the first teaser trailer isn't a million miles away. That's just a bit of speculation on our part.
What isn't speculation is that Warner Bros has begun upping its licensing efforts for the movie, and it's been showcasing the movie heavily at the currently-running Licensing Expo. To that end, it's been displaying some of the costumes that have been used in the movie, and the folks at Coming Soon have taken some snaps. You can see some of them here, including a shot or two that gives hints to the link of Jor-El in the new film.

Ah. Based on the "New52" from DC.
Ever since they rebooted the DC universe with the "New52", I haven't been able to tolerate any of the books they publish. I haven't purchased any DC comics since this was introduced.
Now they're making a new movie, based on this?
Well, I know I won't be seeing this movie. At all. Except maybe with RiffTrax
Congratulations, Warner Brothers! You're saving me a $h!tload of money!
The costume doesn't make the film, Dave, the writer and director do. Goyer and Nolan wrote this, which makes me hope it will be okay. I loved Begins, and Dark Knight was also enjoyable. The biggest hurdle for me is that I'll have to enjoy Snyders directing.
Completely agree. I'm confident in the writing and acting side of things, but Snyder is the weakest point (for me) from the producation side of things
So they're not going for the Brando or Stamp looks? Shame. :-)
Looks intreaging, but very different. Not really sure, but a good director can make rubbish shine, Not really sure we have one though :(
Oh-oh, here it comes. Why can't the costumes look like the originals. Why do they have to use that funny material even though it wasnt even invented when the fist one was made. Why can't it look like the one that is 30 years old. Why do they have to ruin my childhood because technology is better/different....Why do they have to "reinvent" something that has worked for 6 films before....Oy.
In the era of HD this type of hyper-detailed costume makes sense. The Kryptonian suits look suitably alien but I'll be interested to see how they explain Kal-el's costume as it's not just a case of Martha running something up on the sewing machine anymore.
Well, I like it...
Wonder what made Nolan think Snyder is up to this, it's only one of the biggest superhero's of all time. Hopefully, Snyder will surprise us... If not DC should just give us that Wonder Woman film free of charge.
you're saying it's based on new52 because he doesn't have red undies right? That's really the only possible thing you could be going on. Really great logic, just superb. (Btw filming began months before new 52 came out, and suit design probably months before that). Seems like DC isn't really missing your business too much either, and I would say with 100% certainty that most of DC's new comics are of higher quality than they were before.
With nolan in thé script its almost impossible be à bad history now if was only goyer would be à disaster goyer havé good ideas but its a bad writer thats why nolan was needed to bring that great idea with à great script the good write in batmans it was not because goyer but the nolan brothers now if thé guy have créative ideas...for sure have but many of them have but with not great writing thats why one thing iis for sure nolan would never acept being in That movie if he wasn"t sure of delivering the best for superman he have a great respect for batman and superman above all héros in thé history of the comics
Yawn.
jack synder is a good choice director is just not a good script writer
Nowadays people need a logical explanation. When we have to suspend or stretch our beliefs it makes the movie a little childish.
Snyder isn't an automatic fail for me. he's hit and miss. I think he just needs the right scripts and people to remind him to stay focused on narrative. His Dead movie was great, and the animated owl movie was really great too; his Watchmen was alright--especially as it was thought to be unfilmable. Less said about his two visual overload monstrosities, the better.
perhaps nolan and snyder will make a good team. at least snyder will bring more action to supes than that last dreary movie.
i like the more armoury looking costume. it also makes it look more plausible that an adult might go about in public in it than a bright shiny unitard.
I was being a tad tongue in cheek. I don't care about the costume differences, but so many people do its silly. The only part that requires any explanation is where this guy with a "secret identity" got his fancy suit.
We are watching a movie about an alien who looks just like us and get super powers from the rays of our sun, or the difference in gravity, or whatever story they choose to run with and we need a logical explanation over why his suit looks different?
More hit than miss for me- I loved all of 300, Dawn & Watchmen. That being said I just can't bring myself to watch Sucker Punch, everything I've seen and heard just does nothing for me at all.
I confidently predict he'll knock this one out of the park.
Woopdedo. Another costume constructed from old basketballs.
do watch sucker punch, its very affecting at times. there are hints at a better film underneath, but then a 15 year old got hold of it and ruined it for the grownups. I think Snyder will make it more "showy" and a bit more hyper - Nolans bats is a bit too serious at times.
thankfully we dont have to worry about that, Nolan and Goyer are dealing with that!
Say that to the kids who have completely dropped the Teen Titans books, because they characters are too dark, and not like the more "role model" types they were using before. Morals? Scruples? Not in this book.
