Studio boss promises Leprechaun reboot will be a "darker, more traditional horror" than people remember...

It's been almost a year since news of WWE/Lionsgate's planned Leprechaun franchise reboot reached us, and the idea is still going strong according to a new interview with WWE Studios President Michael Luisi.

Speaking to CraveOnline, Luisi confirmed that the project was still pushing ahead and that Lephrechaun fans can expect the new film's tone to be "a little darker, a little more traditional horror than the Warwick Davis ones that people remember." Seeing as the last in the Davis-starring franchise was the firmly tongue-in-cheek straight-to-video release Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood, getting darker and scarier won't be too hard we'd have imagined.

The reboot, which goes by the name of Leprechaun: Origins we're told, won't connect with the previous franchise mythology, and will star WWE's Dylan Postl as lead Lubdan, though a cameo from original star Warwick Davis is apparently not out of the question. Whether Davis, whose TV career has had a resurgence here in the UK of late, will be interested in revisiting the franchise that dominated his nineties movie work, is another matter...
