Guy Ritchie: directing Sherlock Holmes?

Where does this leave Guy Ritchie's involvement with Sherlock Holmes 3?

Currently hard at work on the movie take on The Man From U.N.C.L.E., which is set for release on January 16th 2015, director Guy Ritchie already has his next project after that lined up. He's going to direct a new "re-imagining of the Arthurian legend" with King Arthur, which Warner Bros has given a prime summer 2016 release slot too.

The film is being released on July 22nd 2016, working fro a script by Joby Harold.

That throws into considerable doubt Ritchie's continued involvement in the Sherlock Holmes series of movies. It's little secret that all concerned are looking to get Sherlock Holmes 3 moving, but whilst getting everyone's schedules in tandem has been the problem there, you'd still think that Warner Bros would want the sequel moving by the summer of 2016. It may well be that Ritchie will not be directing it.

Not much else is known about his King Arthur movie. More on it in due course.
