Reboot of Kickboxer on the way

The Jean-Claude Van Damme hit Kickboxer is being rebooted for the big screen. Without JCVD, it seems...

The latest movie up for the reboot treatment? That'd be the much loved 1989 Jean-Claude Van Damme film Kickboxer.

The new take on Kickboxer is set to be directed by Stephen Fung (who helmed Tai Chi Zero), with Alan Moussi set to take the lead role. He'll be joined by UFC's Georges St Pierre and WWE's Dave Bautista.

The synopsis for the new film? Glad you asked...

"David and Kurt Sloan are the descendants of a well-known Venice, California dynasty of champions. Both are top-notch fighters and athletes in the prime of their lives. When David wins the Karate World Championship, a promoter lures him to Hong Kong despite Kurt's protests that the man is a crook. Not soon after, Kurt receives a letter from David and heads to Thailand to meet him. When he arrives, he discovers his brother is dead. The man responsible is the viscous Tong Po. Desperate to seek revenge, Kurt turns to Xian Chow, his brother's former mentor. To defeat the man who killed his brother, Kurt must look within himself to find the strength and courage of a champion".

Casting is still to be completed on the movie, although pre-sales for the movie are set to take place at the imminent Cannes Film Festival. We'd imagine that the new Kickboxer will be ready for release in 2015.

If they don't chant "Nak Su Kow ", me and the director will have words

Not horrified by this but I always preferred Bloodsport to Kickboxer. Speaking of JVCD did anyone else catch welcome to the jungle with Jean showing his comedic chops? A much better film than I was expecting!

Bloodsport is his finest movie

Bolo Yeung's too. Sure he was in EtD, but he got to really ham it up in Bloodsport. Bolo Yeung and Jackie Chan for Expen- ah I give up! It'll have Arsenio Hall and Stephen Colbert no doubt!

And Double Impact - 'big mutha******** with a big scar on his face' :P

Oh fa sho, fa sho

"You bleed like Mylee..."

The original Kickpuncher!

Viscous or vicious?

"David and Kurt Sloan are the descendants of a well-known Venice, California dynasty of champions."
