Synopsis, pictures and poster for Kick-Ass 2
Lots of pictures from Kick-Ass 2, as well as the official synopsis for the eagerly-awaited sequel...
Excitement abounded yesterday, with the official unveiling of the first (red band) trailer for the upcoming Kick-Ass 2. You can watch it here in case you missed it. Oddly, the trailer was region locked for a while - we thought that nonsense was long behind us - but when we finally got to see it, Kick-Ass looked to be in safe hands.
Alongside the first trailer, we've also now got our hands on a few other bits and bobs. Thus, we've got the official poster for you here, as well as a series of shots from the film. There's a synopsis down at the bottom too. The poster first...

Now the stills...

Finally, the official synopsis for the film has also been released, and it reads thus:
"Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) - reborn as The Mother F%&*^r - only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation.
When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy. Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire - leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes.
Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world’s first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad. But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all"
We've got the good folks at Collider to thank for that lot. Pay them a visit right here. And you can get to see Kick-Ass 2 in the summer.

The first one worked very well. What would happen if a 'normal' geek (all be it a very well built geek) wanted to be a super hero...
Now it just looks like a sequel to Mystery Men!?
The problem with this is that the comic exists in pitch-black darkness. It makes the first one look like The Littlest Pony. I'm not sure the film can do anything other than just ape the first one.
Oh I hope he doesn't Carey it up with his oh-so-hilarious gurning.
Not sure we really needed a sequel. The first one stood alone as a lovely bit of cinema.
Agreed. But when Hollywood make ANY kind of profit, they sanction a sequel right away regardless of the sequel being good or bad. It will make money.
And then there are those films that deserve a sequel (Dredd) that just wont happen as it didnt break the bank.
It's a sad time to be in.
The trailer looks good but I really didn't like the Kick Ass 2 comic (read it in Clint) bit too grimy for me If the film keeps a lot of the scenes then its going to leave a bad taste
This looks awful, ironic free facism, that guy from Superbad had outstayed his welcome about 4 years ago, the green screen looks woeful.
Very excited for this.
No movie "needs" a sequel. But i REALLY wanted one, and so did many other fans. And a sequel to the comic already existed. And why are you insulting Jim Carrey when he looks incredible in this movie? can't even recognize him.
