Catch a glimpse of Jim Carrey (and his dog) in a newly released official still from Kick-Ass 2...

Currently in post-production under the watchful eye of director Jeff Wadlow is the eagerly-awaited Kick-Ass 2. The film sees Aaron Johnson reprise the lead role, with the likes of Chloe Grace Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse also returning.

The biggest name to be added to the cast, though, is Jim Carrey, who's set to appear as Colonel Stars And Stripes. There were one or two on-set shots of him doing the rounds when the film was being shot too, but here, courtesy of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, is the first official image of him from the film. That's a patriotic dog he's got there too.

Kick-Ass 2 arrives in UK cinemas this July. Here's that picture...

here is what i need to know about kickass 2....will her be using Bing and myspace?

Wow, Jim is really scrapping the bottom of barrel these days I see

Would be great if they were. Like it's an alternate universe or something... ha

How can you say that about THIS film? Surely that comment should be better aimed at Mr. Poppers Penguins

You think being in Kick Ass 2, a sequel to one of the best Superhero films of all time, is "scrapping the bottom of the barrel"? Wow.

Jim Carrey seems to be making a bit of comeback. There was a time that I hated him. I just thought his over the top style was horrible. I hated Ace Ventura, hated The Cable Guy, I hated Dumb and Dumber and I hated his performance in Batman Forever. For a long time the only film I liked him in was The Mask. It wasn't until I saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind that I became really impressed with him. I even went back and watched The Truman Show, which I really enjoyed. He looks brilliant in The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and I'm sure he'll be great in Kick Ass 2.

Cool, the Zanzibar! Toronto's most famous strip club makes another prominent appearance in a US film. (The first being The Incredible Hulk...)

Awesome - and the dog with the mask makes me smile to no end. Bring it!

No, the penguin movie was WAY better

Best superhero movies of all time?!?!?! Get out of your box and get a life. Kick Ass was the biggest POS that ever came out.

Don't feed the trolls Mike. It only makes them come back for more.

Limey arse Brit!! Truth is the truth, Kickass was a failure of a movie. You must be a Pedophile, cause you love that movie

And there you have it Mike - See what I mean? Scum who are not worth paying any heed to.

Comments full of hatred and lies designed to provoke an argument (they seem to think Kick Ass was a failure event though it took, at the box office, four times what it cost to make) and for some bizarre reason, known only to them, one of the main tactics of a troll is to accuse anyone who disagrees with them of being a paedophile (funny how people who tend to use the word so often can never spell it right though). It is most likely that they are just children seeking attention and as soon as they are challenged it's the only thing they can think of to say to insult a grown up. Doesn't work though. Ever. However it does make me laugh. A lot.

I have to admit, this one must be a bit of an amateur though - they normally take a bit more prodding before revealing their true nature.

It's forgiveable to show, in the background, a venue from a city that is different from the one in which the story is set (many people won't recognise it) - however, the appearance of the phrase "Toronto's #1 Dance Music Store" (albeit slightly obscured by the characters' heads) in a film set in New York is a much larger blunder. One would hope it will be edited out in post production.
