Colin Trevorrow to direct Jurassic Park 4

The director of the wonderful Safety Not Guaranteed has landed the job of making Jurassic Park 4...

Now this is an inspired choice. Speculation has been rife for some time as to the identity of the director for Jurassic Park 4, not least since it was confirmed that the movie was set for release in 2014.

Would it be Jurassic Park III helmer Joe Johnston? Nope. Steven Spielberg? Not him either.

Instead, it's Colin Trevorrow. The same Colin Trevorrow who made the brilliant, brilliant Safety Not Guaranteed. The same Colin Trevorrow who is also linked to a remake of Flight Of The Navigator.

Presumably Flight Of The Navigator will be on hold for the immediate future though, as Trevorrow will need to get down to work quickly. He's got about 15 months to finish the movie, assuming Universal doesn't shift the release date. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes duo Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver have penned the screenplay, and the film is due in cinemas on June 13th 2014.

A fabulous choice, we feel. If you don't agree, check out Safety Not Guaranteed. It's a low budget treat. Big congratulations to Colin Trevorrow.

really liked safety not guaranteed and think that jp4 is in a good position to be better than 3 and maybe even the lost world as it has a finished script and a director whos good with actors

Nothing will match the first though ;)

Colin trevorrow... Colin who, Jurassic park deserves some big names not a guy with one half decent half unknown movie

Safety Not Guaranteed was hugely overrated

Fantastic news.

This is great. Most blockbusters have the actions scenes all planned out by committee well before a director comes on board (enough to make a trailer look good), so it's the character depth and development that Trevorrow will get to focus on. Sounds good to me.

i hated safety not guarantied :(

Pleasing news (although I'm not hugely taken by the idea of another JP film) as Safety Not Guaranteed was a great debut. Not without problems but definitely worth following the director's future stuff,in my opinion.

"The brilliant, brilliant"... Poor writing. Average film

Don't know the guy, but make the theatrical cut a 2 hour affaire! JP3 was too short!

Now get Sam Neil, Vince Vaughn and Geoff Goldblum.

That's one of the things I like about JP3. It's like BAM! Dinosaur fruit salad! Before you've even had time to pull your socks up...

So long as he treats the dinosaurs as the professional actors they are

Why limit new ideas and creativity by limiting the film to an exclusive directors club? New directors have to start out somewhere, and this may be the film that makes this guy big, who knows?! Don't judge the guys efforts on the film before you've even seen it - if anything, credit where its due for actually bothering to ignite new life into the series, try something a bit risky and avoid going for a predictable option designed to insult the fans and rake in the cash.
