Revealed: who is playing Q in upcoming James Bond film Skyfall?
Q is returning to the James Bond franchise with the upcoming Skyfall. And we now know who’s playing him…
Production has been underway for a couple of weeks now on the next James Bond movie, Skyfall. Directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig, the movie is set for release next October in the UK, and we already know that it’s a story not related to that of Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace.
Many suspect that it’s also the film where Craig’s tenure as the younger, rawer Bond (not that he’s that young now…) ties into more familiar 007 movie traits. And one significant move in that direction is the introduction of Q.
The gadget expert was played by the late Desmond Llewelyn previously, but in Skyfall, it’s now been revealed that Ben Whishaw is stepping into the role.
Whishaw is twelve years younger than Daniel Craig, making it, we’re told, the first time that Q has been younger than James Bond on screen. We suspect, too, that he won’t be inventing invisible cars, in line with the slightly more down to earth approach of the last two Bond movies.
More news on Skyfall as we get it.
