Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit - new character clip
A new clip for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit explores the nature of Chris Pine's rebooted character. Take a look within...
It's easy for ageing operatives like us to forget that there's likely to be an entire generation of young cinemagoers who haven't a clue who Jack Ryan actually is.
A role previously inhabited by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck, CIA analyst and all-round man of action Ryan has remained off the silver screen for 12 years - his last adventure being 2002's The Sum Of All Fears.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit introduces a younger, fresher-faced and slightly more Bourne-like incarnation of the hero, this time played by Star Trek's Chris Pine. Unlike the earlier movies, Shadow Recruit isn't based on a novel by Jack Ryan creator Tom Clancy, but is instead an origin story of sorts, exploring the hero's younger years and what happens during a deadly mission to Moscow.
The clip below helps audiences get up to speed with the rebooted Ryan, with brief contributions from director Kenneth Branagh, Pine himself, and there's also a few snippets from the forthcoming movie thrown in, too.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is out in UK cinemas on the 24th January.
