Might John Cusack be in Hot Tub Time Machine 2 after all?

It was something of a surprise when news broke earlier this year that a sequel to Hot Tub Time Machine was in the works. We quite enjoyed the first movie, which proved to be a solid hit - buoyed by its DVD and Blu-ray revenues - but there had been no word of a follow-up in the immediate aftermath of the film's release.

Still, the project looked like it was pulling together earlier this year when the news first hit, with only John Cusack missing from the original cast. Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson and Clark Duke were all reportedly keen, with director Steve Pink involved in developing the film. As it turns out, it's full steam ahead.

Collider has given an update on the project, after it spoke with Craig Robinson about Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Robinson revealed that "negotiations are still going" with John Cusack, which suggests he may yet be appearing in the movie. Furthermore, he's also confirmed that production will begin in June. With that in mind, a releeasein 2014 is looking likely.

Good news. I found this film surprisingly funny!

Why doesn't Cusack spend the rest of his career just working with Steve Pink. Grosse Point Blank, High Fidelity, and Hot Tub Time Machine are 3 of the best films he's ever been in.
