New Warners trademarks hint at more Harry Potter spin-offs
Quidditch and Beedle The Bard get added to Warner Bros' Harry Potter-related trademark collection...
In all likelihood, what we're about to report is a case of Warner Bros making sure that it can have every Harry Potter related trademark it can think of tightly covered. But then, that said, it will want them covered for a reason, as it seeks to pursue movie ventures beyond the initial run of J K Rowling's seven Harry Potter books.
We already know that J K Rowling is working on a screenplay for Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. Yet it turns out Warner Bros has not only trademarked that - for use across television, film, comic books, internet services, computer games, colouring books (really), audio books, magazines and more - but a couple of other spin-off books too.
So, there's J K Rowling's Tales Of Beedle The Bard that's now been trademarked by Warner Bros, and also the mini-book Quidditch Through The Ages. Furthermore, Warner Bros has specifically trademarked a fair few things related to Quidditch. So, there's Kennilworthy Whisp (author of the aforementioned Quidditch Through The Ages), and a collection of team names too.
It's likely that if Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them proves to be a movie success, that Warner Bros will look far and wide within the Potter universe for more movies. Might it be that Quidditch is to be the focus for one of them, we wonder?
