First trailer for Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters

Trailer Simon Brew 5 Sep 2012 - 07:17

Jeremy Renner is Hansel, Gemma Arterton is Gretel. And they hunt witches together. Here's a trailer...

If all had gone to the original design, then Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters would have been released by now. It's been in the can for a while, and the original release date was back in March 2012. Paramount, though, decided to buy the film some more time, and it's now set to be unveiled in March 2013 instead (it's set for January in the US).

The film stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, and it's been directed by Tommy Wirkola, whose last project was Dead Snow. A first trailer has now been released for the film, too, which you can see below. It doesn't look too bad at all...

It doesn't look too bad at all if you liked Van Helsing and Abe Lincoln Vampire Fettler. Classify under 'Bobbins'.

tacky, derivative and....from this evidence Gemma Arterton is headed for a career in straight to DVD that was bad acting!!!

Difficulty: No one did.

That looks like a mediocre opening weekend, zero box office in the second week pile of nothingness. What accent is Arterton actually trying there? Sounded American/French to me.

Thank you. She's a terrible actress. I really don't understand how she gets big roles. I could understand smaller ones what with her odd looks, but lead?????? Not with acting like that.

This looks totally insane. Where do I sign up?

I think she's got a bad case of the Keiras/Kristens - keeps getting given the same part. She was much better in Tess and Tamara Drewe.

This is destined to be a massive flop.

Not bad cant help making comparisons, to Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman also brothers grimm.

Well that looked like pure insanity

If I never hear the term "New Twist on a Classic Tale" again, it will be too soon.

Any chance we could have a moratorium on people ducking to avoid projectiles in slow motion?

I won't even torrent this abomination!

i'll watch this. she gets hawkeye to oogle over, i get strawberry fields, and it's a nice bit of silly action flick for 2 hours (which i quite like, though i can see why others don't). Lovely.

Hows about pure idiocy?

Ya know, people really don't use the term 'bobbins' nearly enough! Well done sir!

She was good in The Disappearance of Alice Creed...

Dead Snow WAS really good, so I might give this a chance...

looks like mindnumbingly dumb good fun.

When I was 10, this would have ben my ultimate film. I look at it now and think "bag o' shite". Why bother making a 'period' film and put modern firearms in it? Just why? It worked with Army of Darkness because he was a time traveller, but here? Puh-lease! Colour me 'disappointed and saddened'.

Why Gemma? Why? :(

Why do they do this?? Take a classic fairy tale and give it a twist - it could be so, so good if given the right treatment, but they all, without fail, suck.
