What Nathan Fillion is and isn't doing in Guardians Of The Galaxy, plus the latest on Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 plans...

We're talking weeks rather than months now until Marvel takes the wraps off its eagerly-awaited Guardians Of The Galaxy movie. Directed by James Gunn, the film heads to UK cinemas on July 31st (it lands in the US the day after).

Gunn, on his Twitter feed, has been addressing a rumour that Nathan Fillion will be taking on the role of Nova in Guardians Of The Galaxy. Firstly, he denied that that's the case, posting the following...

However, a subsquent Tweet revealed that Guardians Of The Galaxy would not be Fillion-free...

Someday, someone is going to give Nathan Fillion a very big role in a very big movie. We look forward to that day.

Elsewhere in Guardians Of The Galaxy news, Marvel Studios' boss Kevin Feige has been talking about possible sequels to the film. "Every time we make a movie, we focus on the single movie, the importance of doing the best version we can to introduce a new audience to the characters. So we don't have, necessarily, two or three or four movies planned because if we have a good idea - a fun idea for a scene or a cool character - we put it in this movie because we know if the first movie doesn't work, there won't be any movies after that", he told the crowd at CineEurope.

He added "that being said, there are dozens and dozens of Guardians Of The Galaxy storylines ... should this film work, should the audience come out for this one, there are definitely places we can take it and we have ideas of where we'd like to go with it, but really all the energy goes into the first movie first".

That first movie lands next month...

I still think the Guardians are going to walk into a bar and Captain Mal Reynolds will either be sitting at the bar or pass them on his way out, that would be beyond perfect.

Like the Wolverine cameo in First Class? ^^

Goram talking raccoons.

That is pretty much my guess too

That would be great, although the entire cast of Firefly/Serenity sitting in a booth drinking would be awesome.

Shared universe within a shared universe.. That's insane. Well, assuming the Alien/Firefly/Blade Runner happening in the same universe idea is true,

It's been mentioned elsewhere first and by others, but it seems that Chris Pratt is actually having the career people hoped Nathan Fillion would have.

Harsh, but fair. It's never too late though. Especially if he's Adam Warlock.

I would LOVE that.

It would be pretty cool.

Nathan Fillion needs to get his ass on the casting couch pronto... maybe if he starts putting out now he might get the part that was made for him; Nathan Drake.

Mal said that he might be featurin' in one o' them fancy post-credit sequences. They're a gorram tease for comin' attractions, 'cept when they ain't. Either way, ya'll know Mal. If he says he's fixin' to show, then he means powerful to do just that. An' who knows? Might be we'll be seein' Mal again somewhere's soon.

Nathan Fillion would actually make a good Richard Rider (Nova) looks wise however he's a little old for Nova imo ........... he could however make a good Adam Warlock? I need one of these characters in the movie so make it happen Marvel.

If that happened I think i'd let out a very audible squeak of delight in the cinema

agreed, I am afraid that old ruggedly handsome is now just a bit to old for Nova, Captain Marvel on the other hand..
If only they had found a part for him in Star Wars , or never cancelled Firefly, or made a sequel to Serenity or.....
