New Guardians Of The Galaxy pictures, trailer update

The trailer for Guardians Of The Galaxy lands in the next 24 hours. And here are three new promo images from the film...

The first trailer for Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy is imminent, although it seems there's been a slight change of plan as to when to expect it. Originally, it was supposed to drop yesterday, but it'll now premiere on the Jimmy Kimmel show in the US tonight. The show is set for 11.35pm EST, which equates to 4.35 in the morning tomorrow in the UK.

Ahead of the trailer debut, a trio of images has been released, which we've got for you here. And over at USA Today, it's got an outline as to what to expect from the story. Obviously if you want to avoid knowing much about the film before you go in, it's best not to read the next two paragraphs...

"The movie teams five disparate personalities: Peter Quill (Pratt), aka Star-Lord, was taken from Earth as a 9-year-old, possesses a mysterious orb artifact and pilots the Milano, a muscle car of a spaceship. Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is connected to Thanos, arguably the cosmos' biggest baddie. Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) is a muscular dude you don't want to upset. And then there are the aliens Rocket Raccoon and Groot (computer-generated characters voiced by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, respectively), who are best pals and potentially the biggest things to happen to pop culture since Chewbacca.

Their stories converge in the space prison Kyln. After the characters break out, they venture to Knowhere (the severed head of a celestial being that serves as a hangout for aliens) and visit the weird menagerie of the Collector (Benicio Del Toro). They also have to avoid two villains, Ronan (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), who are in hot pursuit of Quill's orb, which has the power to destroy the galaxy".

Here then are those pictures. And Guardians Of The Galaxy will be in cinemas on August 1st.

That racoon really captures cooper's likeness.

Oh God...I'm so beyond not liking what I am seeing with the character design shot. That looks bad, and I would've thought Batista would've come in a little more lean than that....Looks like Syfy original programming.

I really have no idea what to expect from this :P I've never heard of GOTG until this film. The title alone makes it sound like a tough sell to casual cinema audiences. But then, I thought Thor and Captain America would be hard sells and BOY was I wrong :P

looks like a TV pilot! Star Lord doesnt have a helmet?

I suggest you try to read up on Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's 'Annihilation' and their subsequent spin-offs and sequels (including a 'Guardians of the Galaxy' series) then. They're Marvel space opera done right, and Gunn explicitly announced them to be his inspiration for the film (he even invited Abnett and Lanning to visit the set). Oh, and Marvel seem ready to re-release them ('Annihilation', 'War of Kings' and 'GotG Complete Collection Vol 1' so far) as part of their marketing.

I didn't know you hung out on here Fed! :) I agree - to "casuals" (ie: people who don't post in internet forums like us, lol), it might be a hard sell on first glance, but then again lots of people like Star Wars/Trek/Who etc, so you never know... I for one am looking forward to it, I have to admit! :)

Neither does movieverse Spiderman, lol

Lol! You clearly didn't check your Disqus replies the other day :P I do indeed love this site :)

Have to agree with Tumas. The Abnett/Lanning stuff is just great fun. Probably the most enjoyable comic series I've read in years

Thanks for the tip, bud :) But I'll just wait for the film as I like going to see films with no prior knowledge of them. I still remember how awesome it was to watch The Matrix without knowing what it was about. Mind blown!

spiderman doesnt wear a helmet!

I just let out a noise not dissimilar to a small girl squealing at the sight of a small puppy, can't wait for the trailer!

At least he has the mask.

Ha, if we were only that lucky to have a space scifi show these days! The last one died with Stargate Universe.

Agreed. I read winter soldier in 2012 and wish I had held off longer.

Likewise. Made my housemate jump, in fact. Excited!

People like Batista exist, and yet they put Vinnie Jones in a Muscle suit.

Why is Groot naked?

Completely understandable. Just keep that list handy afterwards, whatever you think of the film. You shouldn't be disappointed if you try those comics out.

Having read it myself around the same time, it's true that it's a double-edged sword. On the one hand, I could appreciate the little nods to the Winter Soldier in the first 'Captain America' film (being experimented upon, his use of the sniper rifle). On the other, whatever suspense that the casual film-goer will have in finding out the identity of the Winter Soldier in the second film will be completely lost for me.

Yep and the bad outweighs the good, which is why I have chosen not to read days of future past. I'm glad I never did. Apocalypse however, i remember from the cartoon. I wish I didn't BUT it's vague enough to still be intriguing and exciting.

I don't see a problem with that, as long as you actually read the original story eventually.

On the subject of X-Men: DoFP, from what I'm seeing of the film so far, the cartoon is probably the best interpretation anyway. I saw it first, then read the comic story, sure, the TV episode made some significant changes, but I actually liked it more.

It's been so long! But yeah I'd like to read it eventually and see how the films holds up. Same for the hunger games.

Hahaha! I've tried to get like that myself and the lifting is fun but the constant eating hurts.

I wonder how much he'll take for that suit...

i know nothing about GOTG but this is one of my most anticipated films of the year! i really can't wait for it! its different and that can only be a good thing surely?

There's a fifteen second look here. Just take the spaces out of the link. http://www. geeksofdoom .com/2014/02/18/ cant-wait-guardians-galaxy-trailer-tonight-heres-15-second-teaser-video

Noted :)

Captain America can't keep his on for more than five minutes either. It will probably be the same deal here.

Mmmm, thanks for that appetite whetter! :-)

Yes he does (there's plenty of pics doing the rounds of it). I'd just assume he can take it off. You know, becuase most actors like to act with their face and stuff. Just look at Iron Man. We see Robert Downey's face all the time even when he's fully in the suit.

There's a 15 sec teaser on YouTube

And it is not nearly enough!!

wow you're so smart! you must be a deranged mental patient!

Well that's me told! I surrender; there's just no way back from that mighty put down.
(I even up voted your original comment)

I like Galaxies. And Guardians. Therefore I will probably like this film.
