Guardians Of The Galaxy casting latest

There's no Jason Momoa in Guardians Of The Galaxy, as Dave Bautista takes the role of Drax...

Production isn't far away from starting on the second, and riskiest, of Marvel's two big screen ventures in 2014. While Captain America: The Winter Soldier is pretty much a shoo-in for box office success, Guardians Of The Galaxy is more of a challenge. The film's being directed by James Gunn, and if reports are to be believed, this one won't be so intrinsically tied, at least not the same degree, to The Avengers 2.

Bits of casting information have been filtering through throughout the year, then, and another piece has just arrived. It's the confirmation that Dave Bautista is set to play Drax the Destroyer in the new film. Jason Momoa had been linked to the part, but the official confirmation says Bautista's in, and Momoa's out.

There are still some parts of the casting jigsaw to put together, and we'll keep you posted. The film is currently set for release on August 1st 2014.

Sounds cool, he was pretty good in man with the iron fists

No, no, no what an awful casting

Perfect choice for Drax!! This keeps getting better and better!

Batista... The Wrestler? Really? Yeah, he'll have the look, but... A wrestler? For your big, risky, make-or-break movie? Please make this a joke...

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!

Either one's fine with me. They were saying Michael rooker at one point and I like him but he's too old, no physique. Conan sucked, period. They killed Ron Perlman and it was a downward spiral with no end in sight from there. So I should watch man with the iron fists then? It looked bogus but I'll give it a shot

Screw the guardians of the galaxy, the people want a league of extraordinary gentlemen 2.

No they don't. You might... not the same thing.

Yes they do.

If you say so...

I just thought I'd put something here, Momoa, as far as known, was never approached by Marvel. How do you know this you might say, well a question about GOTG was asked at OZ ComicCon today about whether he would be playing Drax he said no, that he had no involvement with the movie and that he'd be open to any movies Marvel wanted him for.

There is a rule for success in the mental world of wrestling - push your strengths and hide your weaknesses - reckon that could apply just as well to movies too. And if you don't think a wrestler would be prepared to work harder than any other soul on the planet for mainstream acceptance then you know nothing.
