James Gunn confirmed for Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy
It's definite: James Gunn is rewriting, and directing, Guardians Of The Galaxy for Marvel...
It's been a month since rumours started swirling that Super and Slither director James Gunn had got the nod to direct the upcoming Marvel movie Guardians Of The Galaxy. Now, the man himself has confirmed it's true.
Gunn is rewriting the script for the movie, and will be directing, and he confirmed the news in a statement on his Facebook page.
"As a lifelong lover of Marvel comics, space epics, AND raccoons, this is the movie I’ve been waiting to make since I was nine years old", he wrote. "Kevin [Feige], Joss [like you don't know which Joss he's talking about], and all the folks at Marvel have been amazing collaborators so far, and we’re committed to bringing you something majestic, beautiful, and unique."
It's going to be a test and a half bringing Guardians Of The Galaxy to the big screen, but Gunn just might be the man to do it. His Facebook page is here.
Guardians Of The Galaxy is due for release in August 2014.

Super! (Enough said.)
I really like James Gunn's work, this could be very cool. I was dreading this movie and now it might actually hold some interest :) yayyyy
Well you can't really say that Marvel have got it too wrong so far. That even includes The Incredible Hulk which I still enjoy. Out of the 6 films so far in the cycle, to me, Iron Man 2 was the only misstep. But when that misstep is a decent film, we geeks really cannot complain. With Gunn doing this, and Black helming Iron Man 3, the next couple of years is looking good.
Good Stuff!
I hope they can make the cosmic universe look more lived in than the Green Lantern movie did. This should be like the Han Solo-centric movie we never had, with Rocket and Groot as Han and Chewie!
I'm not a big fan of Iron Man 2 either but as one of Marvel's weakest films, it still has great moments, for example, every scene Sam Rockwell happens to be in. So yeah, it does seem like that no matter who helms GOTG it should turn out great.
