Iron Man 3 scribe to rewrite Godzilla

The new Godzilla movie is getting a bit of extra script work, with Iron Man 3's Drew Pearce hired for the job.

The pieces of the big screen Hollywood Godzilla reboot have been put into place the past few months. It's set to be directed by Gareth Edwards, who made the wonderful Monsters. And Warner Bros has announced a release date for the film of May 16th 2014.

That gives all concerned a bit of time to get things moving, with shooting unlikely to start until early next year. And with that in mind, Drew Pearce has been hired to give the existing screenplay a bit of a rewrite. According to Variety, the specific writing work that Pearce is undertaking is to age the characters, in order to tie them to the choice of actors that Warner Bros and Edwards have in mind. Pearce's writing credits have included the TV show No Heroics, his work on Iron Man 3, and the writing that he's also doing for Sherlock Holmes 3.

Casting on the film proper is set to start in a few weeks, and as we hear more, we'll let you know...
