G.I. Joe: Retaliation

It looks as if Jon M Chu won't be back for the third G.I. Joe movie - at least according to Dwayne Johnson...

Neither of the two G.I. Joe movies to date have attracted good reviews, but both have gone on to be sizeable hits for Paramount. As such, it quickly ordered G.I. Joe 3. Jon M Chu, who helmed the second movie, was attached again to direct the third. Yet according to Dwayne Johnson, chatting to Collider, that doesn't look like it's going to happen now.

Chu has been linked with directing the movie Jem And The Holograms, and it looks like that's taking precedence for him. Johnson said that "the idea is that we would start shooting G.I. Joe in January, in the first quarter of next year. That's the idea. Look, I love Jon, and I think he did a great job. I get it. He had to go on and do something else".

And whilst Johnson didn't rule out Chu returning entirely, if schedules somehow allowed, when asked about a director for G.I. Joe 3, he said that "we're still looking".

We'll keep you posted...
