New details of G.I. Joe 3 emerge
Paramount continues to press ahead with a third G.I. Joe movie, and it looks like it's hired a new writer...
Two G.I. Joe movies into the franchise, and in truth, we're still waiting for a really good movie. That said, the box office numbers are pretty clear cut. The first film had a worldwide take of $302m worldwide, and this year's sequel, Retaliation, brought in $371m. Even with movies of the quality we've had, this is a franchise that's on the up.
Paramount has already reinstated Jon M Chu as the man to direct G.I. Joe 3, which it's currently working on. But we now learn that a fresh writer has been brought on board. That writer is Evan Daugherty.
Evan Daugherty's main credit to date has been the script and story to Snow White And The Huntsman. According to the mighty oracle that is IMDB, his words also adorn the script of next year's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, and he's also co-penned Divergent for Limitless director Neil Burger.
He's presuming picking up where G.I. Joe: Retaliation writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Rheese left off.
There's no timescale that we know of on the new film, but as we hear more about G.I. Joe 3, we'll keep you posted.
