Egon Spengler himself, Mr Harold Ramis, has been talking about the upcoming Ghostbusters sequel…

As he begins the promotional tour for his upcoming comedy, Year One (which you can find the trailer for here), Harold Ramis has been dropping some titbits to MTV about the upcoming third Ghostbusters film.

The movie, which is being written by The Office scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitksy (who also wrote Year One for Ramis), will be bringing together "the old core players", and that means Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd will definitely be on board. Ramis is quoted as saying, "We're all going to be in it in different kinds of roles. We're going to be the sage mentors. There are going to be young Ghostbusters."

What the piece also seems to make clear is that original director Ivan Reitman won't be helming the new film, and that Ramis is unlikely to either.

Until a script is finalised, though, and all concerned are awaiting the first draft, there's not going to be much further news of Ghostbusters 3. That said, we expect some wheels in motion one way or another by the end of the year...

I was a bit skeptical about this becuase I found this thing on YouTube where Dan Akroyd debunked the whole thing saying that people are making up everything that has been said and Murray and Akroyd have both said that they would not return. Well I hope this is true, just as long as it's not using Shia Labeouf as one of those young people. Not anything against Shia becuase I've enjoyed his movies and what not , but he was F$&@ing annoying in Indy 4 and really deserved to get the shit beat out of him. He called Indy grandpa one too many times for my book.

Good to see that Ramis is talking up the original members being onboard. There are two distinct ways to 'do' Ghostbusters III and I guess we all probably know what the studio boys will do. They will give it an 'ugrade'. New young and upcoming actors playing the original roles. 'Ghostbusers reloaded' if you will or, more than likely 'Ghostbusters Recalled'. Tagline on the cover 'Who ya gonna recall?' A cameo from Dan Ackroyd and nobody else from the original. That's probably how it will go. Oh, and did I mention it will be a spoof. Now, the way it should be done. All the original actors, Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, Ernie Hudson, Harold Ramis, Sigorney Weaver star again, with Ramis directing also. The story is about all the guys being sixty+ and retired when they have to come together again for one last job. But with grown up kids and homes in the suburbs and rusty skills, can they pull it off one last time? Get set for lots of 'old man' angst from Murray and Ackroyd analysing the generational divide, where they have to work out if old school heroes can still be down with the kids. Please, studio bosses, please make sure that Ghostbusters III is not the original Ghostbusters remade.

I hear Guy Ritchie is directing GHOSTBUSTERS 4 afterwards......, he's cast F*CKING JUDE LAW AS SLIMER>>>>>>>>> ILMFAO
