Tony Jaa joins Fast & Furious 7
Star of Ong-Bak, the incredibly talented Tony Jaa is set to make his English language movie debut with Fast & Furious 7
As if the addition of Jason Staham to the Fast & Furious franchise wasn't enough, another icon of action cinema has been added to the cast for Fast & Furious 7: Tony Jaa. The Thai star known best for Ong-Bak is set to make his English language debut with the seventh instalment of the popular franchise. It's unbelievable that this is the case given just how hotly touted he was when Ong-Bak first exploded onto cinema screens ten years ago. If ever there was a man who deserved a leading man role in a big Hollywood action movie, it's surely Tony Jaa.
Jaa said of his casting that "I have been a big fan of the Fast and Furious franchise. The films are fast-paced, fun and keep the audience involved. There is a great mix of humour and action, something I really appreciate. There is no better film to be involved in for a first US studio production", adding "having a chance to work with Vin Diesel and The Rock already makes me a winner".
Jaa's part is unknown at this point as the script is still being worked on by Chris Morgan, although it's fair to imagine that he'll be on the Statham side. Which we're sure we can all agree is the right side...
