Dwayne Johnson talks Fast & Furious spin off
A standalone Fast & Furious movie for Johnson's agent Hobbs seems like a real possibility, according to The Rock himself...
With rumours abound that Jason Statham is set to play the villain in the seventh instalment of The Fast & Furious franchise, the film can't get here soon enough as far as we're concerned.
But if this latest story turns out to be true we may be in for a bit of a wait, as rumours of an Agent Hobbs spin-off movie have resurfaced. The project would see Dwayne Johnson play the lead in a film of his own in the Fast & Furious series, and in a recent interview with Empire, Johnson has hinted that there's a possibility that we'll get the Hobbs film before Fast & Furious 7.
In his words, “(we could see the Hobbs movie) possibly after this one, after the next one. Possibly. I'm not quite too sure, I know that's the goal and we continue to build that character and have him take shape. But yes, I can't wait".
Johnson was a large part of why Fast & Furious 5 worked so well, given that he was so much more than an identikit nemesis for the gang go up against. In fact his character could be viewed as the protagonist of the piece, and he provides more than a worthy physical match for Vin Diesel. What the spin-off movie will hold for the perma-sweaty, stone-faced bad ass remains unknown at this stage but it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

The Fast and the Furious - best video game adaptation that isn't based on an actual video game
I predict it will be an odd couple buddy movie and his sidekick will be called Calvin.
Fast 7... Jason Statham..... OMG!!! :D
Hmm...6' 4" Dwayne Johnston Vs 5' 8" Jason Statham? Some clever camera angles and editing may be required!
