Ahead of the first trailer for Fast & Furious 6, which debuts this weekend, the first synopsis has been released...

This weekend, Universal Pictures will be pulling the covers off the latest movie in the Fast & The Furious franchise, as the first trailer for Fast & Furious 6 is set to land. It'll be appearing during the Superbowl television broadcast in the US, and we confidently predict that it will involve cars, testosterone, and well-paid actors talking gruffly.

As to what the film itself will be about, this newly released synopsis should offer a clue or two. You can sum it all up as this: an excuse for a very fast drive.

Here's the synopsis:

"Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.

Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again."

Fast & Furious 6, directed by Justin Lin, will be in cinemas in May. We'll have the trailer for you the other side of the weekend....

Top Gear on crack would have probably saved someone RSI.

I consider myself to be at least partially cultured so I know it's wrong. But i just can't get enough of this franchise. I can't wait!

Actually - this sounds really awesome.

Fast 4 and Fast 5 were two brilliant films, actually had a gueinuely brilliant storyline to them, plus the fight between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel was just pure genious! I am very excited about this film!

These films are definitely my guilty pleasure.

I would prefer them to go back to the street racing type of film over the heist film direction. But I guess they had to reboot the franchise to keep it moving on.

Not sure how Letty would have survived that horrific car crash, but I guess it doesn't matter with this type of film. It's like a Soap Opera with fast cars!
