Writer found for Fantastic Four reboot

Fantastic 4

Josh Trank is directing, and now we know who is writing the new Fantastic Four movie...

Work is beginning in earnest, it seems, on Fox's planned reboot of the Fantastic Four movie franchise. Off screen since 2007, Fox is pushing ahead, with part of the motivation presumably being to stop the rights reverting back to Marvel, and it appointed Chronicle director Josh Trank to helm the project last week.

It's also filled in another key personnel post on the movie too, by inking a deal with Jeremy Slater to pen the screenplay for the film. Slater currently has a couple of films in the works, including horror flick Tape 4 and teen comedy My Spy.

Slater will presumably start working with Trank as soon as the ink is dry on his deal, and we wonder if the new Fantastic Four movie might just make it before the cameras next year at this rate...

it would be nice to see a better FF movie. so much potential for a fun comic book movie.

Awesome news on the director; I just think it's a shame that Marvel don't get the rights back so they can tie it in with their cinematic universe.

I liked the new Spiderman (not loved, but definitely liked) but this thing of the studios rebooting things simply so they don't lose the rights is without question what is going to make the superhero film extinct by the year 2020. I wanted something to wash the taste of Spiderman 3 out of my mouth so I forgave their reasoning, but Fantastic Four? Of course those movies could have been better, but this is obviously a numbers crunch...do we, the studio, allow a potentially profitable asset be taken by someone else, or do we churn out another one knowing we'll at least make our money back at the global office? When the only real cost is the potential of beating a genre to death, seems like human nature that they'd make 45 fantastic fours if they could...

FOUR WORDS: DOCTOR DOOM DONE RIGHT

Fox...do that right thing and let Marvel have there property back.........pffffft yeh right!

Whenever I see the end of The Incredibles, I can't help but think how cool Mole Man could be if done right... got to save Doom for the sequel.

If Marvel changed their ways then perhaps things could change?

Josh Trank? Funny, I expect this film to be completely Josh Trank.

Well, yes, obviously.

I used to love pretending to be The Thing when I was young. Even today, I can hear total strangers shouting "oi, brick head" at me.
I think that's what they're saying...
