Full trailer lands for Neill Blomkamp's Elysium

Matt Damon and Sharlto Copley star in the new film from Distict 9's Neill Blomkamp, Elysium. And here's the new trailer...

2154 doesn't look like a fun place to live, especially if you've got no cash. Planet Earth has been ravaged, and now it's home only for the poor and underprivileged. The rich? They get to live on the orbiting paradise that is Elysium. The two worlds are kept firmly apart, and the status quo is firmly set for the brand new film from District 9 director Neill Blomkamp.

As you might expect though, even before you set your eyes on this new trailer for the film, things don't quite go as they're supposed to. This full promo for Elysium that's just been released explains all of that just a little bit better than we could. The flip side is that this is a trailer that arguably overplays its hand, and tells you too much. Our advice would be to avoid the trailer, in truth, and wait for the film. This is one movie you're going to want to see on a very big screen.

And you've not got long to wait either. Elysium arrives in cinemas in August. It's long been one of our most anticipated films of 2013. Nothing we've seen so far has changed that.

I love Jodie Foster, especially evil Jodie Foster.

OCCUPY Elysium!

Welcome to big school!
Can Blomkamp PLEASE direct Star Wars VIII ??

I feel like I've watched the film - I preferred the previous trailer. Still, the sarcasm-detecting robot is a great idea, though I do wonder what the punishement for sarcasm is?

NB single handingly saving holywood! i seriously cant wait

He's never made a film in Hollywood....

he is now making Hollywood backed films is my point, which this one is

Looks a bit cliche, but also looks gorgeous.

Some of the ships look like the small ones from district 9 and did sharlto's character hav a light saber? The latter's probs a homage but does the mean shared universe or set piece re-useL?

Reminds me of total recall

wish I'd not watched the trailer though, as suggested here

yeah, i know what you mean :) but Blomkamp's doing his own thing, always has, and Abrahms'll do a cracking job of Star Wars and is probs a better fit anyway

I have to agree with Tom. Blomkamp should stick to original material like Duncan Jones. Abrams is a good choice, his Star Trek Into The Darkness was like a new Star Wars film.

Yeah I know it'll never happen. But if they are having different directors for all 3 then I would've loved to see Blomkamp give us the 'Empire' of the trilogy.

haha, if they are to have different directors for each new star wars then yeah, why not put blomkamp in the mix, of course it would be good
