An Elvis Presley biopic joins Kung Fu on director Baz Luhrmann's slate...

Arguably the most successful director of big screen music-led movies right now is Baz Luhrmann, off the back of Moulin Rouge, The Great Gatsby and the sublime Strictly Ballroom. And the director is now in talks with Warner Bros about bringing a mooted biopic of Elvis Presley to the big screen.

The project doesn't have a title yet, although it does have a screenwriter attached. Kelly Marcel, who penned the script for Saving Mr Banks and the adaptation of 50 Shades Of Grey, is on this one too. Warner Bros has "secured the rights to all musical components in Presley's catalog for this project", The Wrap reports.

Luhrmann and Warner Bros have been chatted for weeks about the movie, and a deal is expected to be done soon. Whether Luhrmann schedules the Elvis Presley film ahead of the Kung Fu movie he's attached to as well remains to be seen.
