EON Productions adds a film about Edward Snowden to its slate...

EON Productions is spreading its tentacles beyond the world of James Bond, as it's now snapped up the rights to Glenn Greenwald's book, No Place To Hide: Edward Snowden, The NSA And The U.S. Surveillance State.

Edward Snowden, as you may well recall, was the former CIA and NSA employee who leaked classified documents to the media. As such, he was hit with an espionage charge by the US, and fled to Russia, where he still lives. Greenwald was the journalist who broke the story of Snowden's secrets.

Producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are currently hard at work putting James Bond 24 together, but they'll develop the Edward Snowden feature for Sony. And whilst there's no screenwriter yet charged with turning the story into a film, we'd imagine all concerned want to get this one moving rather quickly.
