Brand new pictures from Dredd
Karl Urban is Judge Dredd. And we’ve got new pictures to prove it…
Whilst the wait continues for the first trailer for the eagerly-awaited Dredd, one of the film’s international distributors has popped a couple of new images of the film live on its website.
They’ve appeared at the page of Aurum Producciones, and we get a closer look at Karl Urban’s Dredd uniform as a result. He’s really not looking too bad, either.
The film is scheduled for release in the UK on 7th September, and it’ll begin its international rollout from that point onwards. We still suspect we might get the first trailer sometime around the release of The Dark Knight Rises, but that’s speculation on our part. Don’t hold us to it.
Here are those pictures…

I liked the reference to Judge Minty....
Good, he looks gritty and therefore looks a lot better than Stallone.
He is way too skinny to be Dredd. Looks like a hotdog in bubble wrap in that suit.
it doesn't look to bad, here's hoping it's a massive hit, and they throw boatloads of cash at a couple of sequels
Needs bigger shoulder pads.
I have my fingers crossed for this movie after still hurting all these years later at the Stallone version (and I love Stallone, one of my fave actors but man, that film was bad, so bad, I want to cry...)
Dredd was never a Stallone steroid- bunny, he was lean in the early comics like Clint Eastwood.
looking forward to this BIG TIME! No talking Law Giver, no helmet removing and NO ROB SCHNEIDER DERP DE DERP
I still remain to be convinced. The film certainly seems to have strayed too far from the original ideas of Mega-City One. Though he does look good in the Dredd suit.
Why?
I think Karl Urban will be a good fit. The uniform looks more realistic and plausible. I actually like the fact the fact that he looks smaller. A lot of SAS guys are small but they can kick ass. Stallone made Dredd look to much like a wrestler, than an officer of the law.
Meh. I loved the comics as a kid, but from the look of all these pics, I can't say anything has taken my interest. I don't think Karl Urban is right for the part at all
These are new photos?!? They just look the same as whats already been around.
I do like the look though, it is reminiscent of the very early Dredd from the late 70s.
Yes - looks a lot like the earlier comic book Dredd of my youth - lets hope all Stallone memories get pushed aside by this and we all remember Danny Cannon for the Olympics instead!
what has Danny Cannon got to do with the olympics?!?
Oh s~*t yeah - that would be Danny Boyle! Apologies Jason! You got me!
I haven't read it in years, but as I recall Dredd was physically imposing. He was one of the clone Judges, and I took that to mean he was genetically designed to be the perfect specimin. I am sure that every time he was pictured standing next to someone he was about a foot taller than them.
yep i read the comics also, and this guy does not have the height nor the chin to carry this off.
YOU HAVEN'T SEEN EITHER THE FILM ITSELF OR EVEN ANY COMPLETED VISUAL EFFECT SHOTS OF MEGA-CITY ONE, so how can you say they've strayed too far from the original idea, John Wagner has actually SEEN the film, and has given it his unabashed approval, so hush up and wait at least for the trailer...
Who will sign my petition to remake 80's sleeper hit 'OVER THE TOP' with Karl Urban & Michael Fassbender....? ;p
And Stallone was?
Yep, that's one gritty chin alright.
No, I can see his nostrils.
Karl Urban is about 6' 1". Stallone is around 5' 10". That's the height issue sorted then ;)
Well, he has the height. As for the chin, Dredd didn't have a lantern jaw when he first appeared.
There are those who have pointed out that Stallone had the correct jawline. That worked out well, didn't it?
Nope. Just because I think Urban isn't right doesn't mean Stallone was by default.
Only time will tell just how good Karl Urban is in the role.
Lets face it, he can't do any worse than Stallone.
You won't be seeing much of MegaCity 1 Stevo, almost the entire movie takes place in the concrete shanty favellas on the ground.Do you really think locking out the director from editing is going to help the movie or hinder it? I love the idea of Dredd being tricked into taking out someones enemies though. When he finds out he's been played he's going to be really pissed.
First of all, Pete Travis was NOT locked out of editing, that was a publicly refuted story, and you'll see plenty of Mega-City One in the film, enough to give you a sense of the vastness of the city...
