Kevin Feige downplays director rumours for Marvel's upcoming Doctor Strange film, but admits meetings are happening about it.

As if there's any doubt left that Doctor Strange is on the list of upcoming Marvel Studios projects, Kevin Feige - the man in charge - has been chatting about the film again to IGN. Specifically, he's been addressing assorted rumours that have sprung up of late.

One of those rumours surrounded a list of directors that had apparently been drawn up for the film. On the list, went the story, were Mark Andrews, Nikolaj Arcel, Jonathan Levine and Dean Israelite. Feige, however, told IGN that "the article was true that we're meeting a lot of people now. That article was not true about who we're meeting or what level anybody is. But we're actively looking".

Furthermore, he addressed the rumour that had been doing the rounds that Johnny Depp had met up about playing Stephen Strange. Feige said that "when you have a project that's been around as long as Doctor Strange, there is sometimes 'oh, I've met with Stan about this! Or I did that'. So Strange is one of those projects that predates me by a long shot ... even in its cinematic brewing".

So is he looking for a movie star to lead the film? "I would say that we're pretty transparent, right? Doctor Strange would be our... well, depending on when we make it, it could be our 13th, 14th, 15th movie, right? I think if you're looking to track our decision-making and how we've done things, we have a pretty wide track record now where you can sort of see. So, no, a movie star is not required, but that doesn't mean a movie star wouldn't be great. It just depends".

Interesting statement, saying a 'movie star' is not required.
He has a point, but I think the real test will be GOTG; the only big name is Bradley Cooper and he is only in voice, so hopefully the movie will do well.
I like that they put character first, not just finding a star and then seeing where they fit.

I like that Marvel have the nuts to try some of their more Cosmic/magical properties on the big screen. I wonder if we'll ever see something like the Inhumans. That would be amazing!

My bet is yes Inhumans is almost a definate. They cant use scarlet witch and quicksilver as mutants so theyre gunna have to do something to explain their origins

Erm....Vin Deisel,Zoe Saldana,Glenn Close,John C your right,only one movie star....use your noggin

They're still allowed to use the term 'mutant' just none of the main x-men characters....although I think I remember hearing the Inhumans may be part of the x-men package, but I may be wrong

er,,,scarlet witch and quicksilver arent inhumans...although quicksilver has used the terrigen mist to re gain his powers following scarlet witchs 'no more mutants' decimation of the mutant population he is a mutant. He was however married to Crystal who is an Inhuman
the inhumans were created as an experiment by the Kree..

I'd say the only recognizable ones are zaldana and Honsou, possibly Glenn Close, haven't seen her so I don't know.

So what tone could/should Dr Strange have? I'm having a hard time imagining what it will be like.

I think he means like a mega star who is recognisable to the man on the street. i.e. Everyone knows Johnny Depp, and can name him. Bradley Cooper is another one, most people know his face and name. However, as recognisable as Saldana is, most people wouldn't know her name. i.e. she is the one that plays Uhura in the new star trek franchise, oh and she was in that Words with Bradley Cooper. Most people wouldn't realise that was her in Avatar unless you pointed it out. Marvel seem to go for actors who are stars, but are recognisable as "oh that's him who was in X, Y Z" rather than "oh that's Johnny Depp". Even when RDJ was cast as Tony Stark it was a controversial decision as he wasn't a leading man. Now he is one of the biggest mega stars in the world. I always remember my wife remarking at Thor "Oh, that's him from Home and Away!"

What's Home and Away? Lol

The somber mood of The Matrix meets Pee Wee Herman's Playhouse.

I wonder how I'll rank the next 4 marvel films, ending with Antman. For now it's, from least to greatest:

Captain America
Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Thor 2
Iron Man 3
Iron Man

So bored of Marvel's assault of my senses. Is there one original idea left in Hollywwod?

Best to Worst

The Avengers
Iron Man 3
Iron Man
Incredible Hulk
Thor 2
Iron Man 2
Captain America

A2 will probably be the best, then I'm thinking winter soldier. Antman may suffer from originitis like Thor and Cap, or not, like iron man. I don't count hulk in that because it was a retread, but with lots of action and an awesome boss fight. GotG looks awesome. I hope it is. I got my popcorn teeth ready.

Meka leka hi meka hiney NO

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of fun either.

Yes beacuse fun = CGI and endless comic book adaptations.

What's Bradley Cooper? Sounds like a make of car.

its probably going to be part action/comedy. Whedon crap aplenty. Nothing serious or offensive with some magic item as a mcguffin. Marvel should take a chance and give this one to Guilermo Del Toro or somebody who can bring out all the demons and weird stuff.
