Flash Gordon approaching?

Simon Brew

Could a new version of Flash Gordon be heading to the big screen? Quite possibly....

The latest character that could be resurrected for the big screen is none other than Flash Gordon, if reports circulating this morning are to be believed.

Sony are the studio backing the project – and seems to have forgotten about the tepid SciFi Channel television revival – and it appears that Breck Eisner is already on board the project as director. Eisner previously helmed the Matthew McConaughey project Sahara.

The project is in the early stages of development right now, and it’s believed that there is no writer yet working on a potential screenplay. It’s also unclear as to whether the rights have yet been actually procured. However, any excuse to dig out our Queen album of old, and to relive the glories of Diiiiiiiiive! is no bad thing in our book.

Let’s just hope they don’t screw up the film, though…
