Spidey 4/5 to be shot back-to-back...?

Marvel's web-slinger may be returning to the big screen in a two-part story arc...

Spiderman 4 and Spiderman 5 might be shot back to back as a two-parter, according to a 'trusty source' at Cinematical. The recently-submitted Spidey 4 first-draft from Zodiac writer James Vanderbilt apparently sets up a two-episode arc. The script has reportedly generated a great deal of interest, with both sides in negotiations to secure the deal.

Though AICN speculates that Tobey McGuire and Kirsten Dunst are unlikely to be easily available for both films, the main reason for this furious approach to sequel-making (as evidenced in the Pirates, Matrix and Back To The Future sequels, as well as the Lord Of The Rings trilogy) is to secure the principals for one vast sweatshop shoot, and lower the chances of their departure from a profitable series.

If McGuire gets too greedy, there's always the looming spectre of Parker-a-like Jake Glyllenhaal (also a Zodiac protege) being called in from the sidelines to continue the web-slinger's tale of tormented teen angst amongst the skyscrapers of New York. This writer believes that you'd barely notice the difference...

I think you'd notice a huge difference, as the acting would be greatly improved from Spidey 3.
