Clash Of The Titans 2 plans moving forward?
Who cares what the pesky critics have to say anyway. For it seems as if Warner Bros has won its gamble to take another stab at Clash Of The Titans, and if the weekend box office takings are anything to go by, it's also won its gamble to slap 3D onto the film at the last minute. Who cares if very few people think the 3D is in the slightest bit convincing? It's hard to argue with a $61m opening weekend at the start of April, after all.
The more observant among you may have noticed, anyway, that the poster for Clash Of The Titans contains the tagline ‘The Journey Begins' (we'll gloss over the ‘in 3D' bit, if that's all the same). And that's all to do with Warner Bros plans to make a franchise out of its all-new Titans.
There are, it seems, plans to do at least two more Clash Of The Titans movies, although, obviously, all concerned were waiting for the weekend box office numbers before moving ahead. It's a fair bet that the light marked green may be glowing in the weeks ahead.
And that's going to be pleasing news for director Louis Leterrier, who appears keen to return for Clash 2. He told MTV, "I'm not saying I know what exactly will happen to Perseus in the next two movies, but I know the direction and it's pretty exciting. It's ancient superheroes."
MTV also reports that Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, the screenwriters, have been "taking part in brainstorming sessions about a Clash trilogy". This time, too, it seems that they might actually try and do the 3D properly, and work it in from day one. Bonus marks too if they pen a better script.
Here's the piece at MTV, and here's our review of Clash Of The Titans.
