Anne Hathaway open to Catwoman spin-off

After the succes of The Dark Knight Rises, could a Catwoman movie be next?

The last time Warner Bros pressed ahead with a standalone Catwoman movie, the end result really wasn't very pretty at all. However, it was Christopher Nolan, a week or two back, who suggested that there might be something in a new Catwoman spin-off, now that Anne Hathaway is in the role of Selina Kyle. And when quizzed about it herself, Hathaway had some enthusiasm for the idea, with a caveat.

She told Digital Spy that "I think it would be lovely to see more of her but only if it's with the right people". She added that "She lives in this Gotham City and so it would have to be established by the people who have made this Gotham City. For me, at least."

That suggests that for a Hathaway-headline Catwoman movie to happen, Christopher Nolan would need to be involved, at least in the setting-up of the project. And while he's overseeing Zack Snyder's Superman film, he's not given any hint at all that he'd want to remain linked to Gotham City in any way going forward.

Still, with Warner Bros looking to find as many ways as possible to make its DC Comics properties work on the big screen, Catwoman may very well be an option...

Yes please.

I'd go for that, she was great in this. Especially if Nolan and his team were involved.

Yeah, they should make it dark & gritty and grounded...

It would be remarkable if they managed to make a catwoman film which didn't leave a stain on this incarnation of batman.

I think we all remember the last attempted catwoman film. Isn't that enough to put people off taking the risk of ruining the legacy of 3 great films?

Yes based in the real world, heaven forbid it should have anything to do with it's comic book origins!

This needs to happen. Nolan - name your price!

We all want to forget the last catwoman film :p.

If it featured Bale as the crippled and no longer ready-for-action Bruce Wayne, I'd be up for this. Assuming his magical knee device from TDKR wasn't permanent, he should be feeling the consequences of his cape and cowl days by now. If he popped up once or twice sans costume, it would make for an interesting film...

I was so worried about Catwoman being in this film and thought it'd be the ruin of things... glad that I couldn't have been more wrong. Not only was Hathaway great but the character was used so well.

most of the stuff that happened in the dark knight rises was taken from comics you idiot

Well der, maybe the line "heaven forbid" may have indicated I was being just a tad sarcastic? (Kids of the 80s, the downward generation)

If it had a direct link to the past events that DKR eludes to and fills out her character and adds more depth to DKR I'm all for it. If it is just a one off film with no continuity and doesn't add to a great trilogy than I'd rather they just use those creative forces to come up with an original tale.

A spin off could ruin the ending she got in Dark Knight Rises. Perhaps a prequel set before the events of DKR?
