A new take on Carrie is heading to cinemas next year. Here's the first poster for it, too...

As hard as it is to be enthusiastic about a fresh big screen take on Carrie, there are a few things in favour of the idea. Firstly, Brian De Palma’s excellent Carrie movie did leave a few elements of the book untouched, which means there's room for a different take on the material to explore.

Secondly? It’s hard to sniff at the casting of Chloe Grace Moretz in the title role, nor of Julianne Moore as her mother. And then there’s the director this time around. Kimberly Peirce is about as far removed from a hack director as you can get, it’ll be interesting to see just what she brings to the film.

The covers will be coming off the new Carrie shortly, too. At New York Comic Con over the weekend, the first teaser trailer for apparently screened, and that’s going to be released online shortly, we’d imagine. In the meantime, here’s the first official teaser poster.

Carrie currently has a UK release date of 5th April 2013, a couple of weeks after the movie makes its US bow.

Yes, we do. We also all know the original film as well. So tell me, what is the point in this?

Film posters aren't what they used to be. Nor slogans, come to mention it.

I already know her name, Its Carrie - if you missed that in the title of the film, original film & book, this movie probably isnt for you :|

Way too much animosity towards this. With so many talented people involved, this could well be brilliant.
