Captain America 2: run time, Black Widow, TV spot

News Simon Brew 25 Feb 2014 - 07:04

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is to be the second longest Marvel film. Plus: TV spot, and Black Widow latest.

It looks like Captain America: The Winter Soldier is pretty much locked and loaded, with the film beginning its global roll out in cinemas from the end of next month. And we've got a quick news round-up with regards the film right here.

Firstly, the running time of the film appears to have been locked. Stitch Kingdom is reporting that the film is two hours and 16 minutes long, making it the second longest Marvel movie to date (behind The Avengers).

Scarlett Johnasson, meanwhile, has been chatting to Total Film about how the film changes things to the character of Black Widow. Admitting that "I don't spend a lot of time in my catsuit in this one", she said that "there's a real kind of Big Brother aspect to this film. All that Cap and Widow know to be true, everything that they trust in - as much as they trust in anything - is sort of ripped from underneath them".

Finally, a new TV promo spot for the film has just landed too, and you can see that right here...

I'm cool with this. Even if Avengers did have a long run time I've never "felt" it as I've always had a blast watching it, and from what I've seen and heard of this Winter Soldier, this will be a blast too.

Agreed :) A film should be as short or as long as it needs to be to make it "feel" right. Avengers never felt long to me as I loved the final battle. Man, I've watched that sequence about 20 times and I never get tired of it :D

I feel the same way, its great!

might this film's promo campaign break new ground with being super spoilery? durgh...

erm, is it just me, or is that a MASSIVE SPOILER @11seconds?

This looks bloody amazing......but then so did Thor 2...and whilst it was ok...it was just...ok.. in the end. Put it this way. I'll buy thor 2 when its sub £10 on Bluray. The same as I did for Iron man 3.
I hope this is different.

I was wondering the same thing... but in an earlier trailer they also show him all injured and beaten down.. this probably means he is lying somewhere in an hospital bed and not actually dead..

I really like Thor 2. I wasn't expecting much, but I thought it was much better than the first

I thought that too!

Same here - if anything Thor: TDW felt a bit rushed trying to squeeze everything in to 2 hours. So far none of the Marel films have outstayed their welcome or felt like they were padding out their runtimes, so more than happy for this to be a bit longer

Hear, hear!

thanks for the heads-up. shall avoid it now.

So Nick Fury is off to Tahiti then?

it's a magical place

The stuff at 11 seconds has been shown in previous trailers.

Thor: TDW was quite heavily cut wasn't it? It's one of the first films in a while that I'd actually noticed it while watching.

Can someone please clear up why this article says Avengers is longer than 2 hrs 16mins? The actual film ends at 2 hrs 10mins - are there different versions available? Wikipedia says it's 2hrs 22mins!

agreed, having seen a majority of the deleted and extended scenes I find myself scratching my head at why they were deleted in the first place. It would have been a much more complete film had they let the movie run a tad longer. It was one of the shorter films of the MCU wasn't it?

Fury's probably a life decoy model
