First trailer for Calvalry, from the director of The Guard

Brendan Gleeson reunites with John Michael McDonagh for Calvary. Here's the first trailer...

Remember the quite wonderful The Guard? If you've not seen it, do consider checking it out. It's from writer-director John Michael McDonagh, and sees Brendan Gleeson playing a particularly disinclined Irish law enforcement officer, forced to work with Don Cheadle's hyper-efficient FBI man.

McDonagh's new film, Calvary, has now been confirmed to play the Sundance Film Festival at the start of 2014, and it reunites him with Brendan Gleeson again. Furthermore, Chris O'Dowd, Kelly Reilly, Aidan Gillen, Dylan Moran and Marie-Josee Croze are in the cast.

It's a black comedy, and the first trailer for the film has just been released. We don't have a UK release date yet, but we'll let you know when we get one...

I'm jealous of the McDonagh's. Truly talented pair.

Looks about as badly lit with equally awful compositions as the extremely overrated The Guard. Oh well.

Overrated by who?

That looks like a brilliant cast. The best Irish talent out there all in one film, can't wait. The McDonaghs are two of the best Irish directors working.

The cast does look great. I think Pat Shortt is underrated as an actor and Its good to see Killian Scott as well, he's brilliant in love/hate.

The plot doesn't quite grab me, but that cast is far too good for me to be worried
