Bourne 5 release date confirmed

Jeremy Renner is set to return for the next Bourne movie, in the summer of 2015...

The once-crowded blockbuster summer of 2015 is looking a little less packed than it once was. Independence Day 2, Star Wars: Episode VII and Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 are amongst the films that have vacated it so far. And whilst Ant-Man has moved in, there's still likely to be some jiggling to do before the finally line-up for summer 2015 at the movies is confirmed.

And you can add the follow-up to The Bourne Legacy to the list, too. Universal has confirmed that Bourne 5 is going to be released on August 14th 2015, and that Justin Lin - the man behind lots of Fast & Furious movies - is set to direct.

Jeremy Renner will be back as Aaron Cross in the new movie, although the rest of the casting is some way off being confirmed.

Universal has also revealed a release date for Luc Besson's upcoming movie, Lucy. This is a film where Scarlett Johansson will play what's described as a "merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic". Not much else is known about the film other than that, but we now know we can expect it on August 8th 2014.

I am glad that Jeremy Renner is going to be back to play Aaron Cross again, as in my opinion the scenes he actually was doing the action in he was spot on!

Overall I think the story for the Bourne Legacy could have been drafted a lot better but still a very good film nonetheless.

Hollywood, stop trying to make Jeremy Renner happen. It's not going to happen.

Probably gonna miss it. 1-3 was a cool trilogy. 4 was dire rubbish.

I like Jeremy Renner, but I hope the script for the next one is tighter than 4. 1-3 were good because they seemed very real worldy, but 4 crossed over into sci-fi (all that gubbins about viruses etc).

Considering the proposed release date, I can see this being a bit of a flop at the box office.

I'm sorry Tim, but he's already happened. Get over it.

he's good, just not in the Bourne universe.

Or the Mission Impossible Universe. Or the Avengers universe. Or anywhere else he's been shoehorned into. Give him a role that allows him to actually do something new, rather than letting him ride the coat-tails of something established.

Agreed, he needs a breakout role that defines him and doesn't typecast him. He's proven his worth, now they need to unleash the beast so to speak.

There's a new Luc Besson film - that appears to be Sci-Fi that features Scarlett Johansson...? please... please be good! How does this only get a footnote mention on the coattails of a 'not' Bourne film article?

Ugh. Bourne Legacy was truly horrible. One of the worst films I've ever seen. Hopefully they'll do a better job because I like Renner
