Benedict Cumberbatch signs up for new thriller

Blood Mountain is a thriller that starts shooting in April. And Benedict Cumberbatch is set to star...

Phew. Just yesterday, we posted the following on our Twitter account...

Thankfully, someone out there was watching. The Cumberdrought is over. After seemingly going months being linked to films left right and centre, there had been a notable, discerning lack of Cumberbatch film news. What would we dwellers of the internet do? People had seemingly even lost the energy to make things up. Turns out, the man himself has come to the rescue with something concrete. Breathe out folks, breathe out.

For we now learn that Benedict Cumberbatch has signed up for a new thriller by the name of Blood Mountain. The film's being directed by Sergei Bodorov (who helmed Mongol), with Lawrence Bender producing. The shoot is set to kick off in Morocco in April.

As for the plot? Variety reports that it's about "a private military contractor whose special forces team is ambushed and killed during a covert raid, forcing him to personally escort one of the world’s most wanted terrorists over hostile terrain in order to bring him to justice".

We're guessing that he'll be playing said contractor in the film, although that's not been confirmed. And with that, let the Cumberbatch movie rumour clock reset again to zero....

I love you guys.

I'm calling it, he'll be playing a young time travelled Peter Cushing in the next Star Wars film, after which he'll play a Neo-Nazi in Indiana Jones 5 and Commander Travis in a rebooted Blake's Seven film.

You guys seem to make certain news happen with your jokey tweets - first the Capaldi tweet in August and now this...

Hope so - we tweeted about getting The Iron Giant on Blu-ray this morning...

err... this is pretty old new guys, he's also signed up for "Lost city of Z" too as far as i know ( and i bought the book of that months ago on the back of that news!)

I was looking for the Iron Giant on Blu-Ray just the other day. I fully support any petition to get this done!

He is great but I do feel like I'm overdosing on him of late (ducks)

I have to say, I quite like the idea of him playing the needly, mind-f***ery terrorist from that synopsis...having Cumberbatch worming his way into your head for 90 minutes has serious dramatic potential.

Not sure about the title, but this souds good. Cumberbatch and the director of Mongol? Sign me up.

Errrrrr...I like Scott as well, but are you okay?????????

Seriously...this joke died months ago pal.

Sign me up for every film Cumberbatch does...he's the best actor out there right now. Period. Always worth watching, always worth the money.

OHhhhhhh you're in trouuuuubbblllleeee! lol I could never get enough of him much less too much.

Good news. Goood news!

Wish he had more of a part in 12 Years a Slave to show off those acting chops!

Oh, yes please!

sorta kinda like STID?

Thanks for the news!
Just a remark - it's Sergei Bodrov, without extra "o" in the middle. Cheers from Russia ))

I think the dream project would be Cummerbund Bandersnatch, Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender. David O Russell, you could make this happen

I agree that 12 Years A Slave and First Class are great films (are there any others they've done together) but a good film needs a good script, not just good stars. It would be amazing to see all 3 in one film though..

Think Fassbender will get his first oscar for 12 years?
