Michael Keaton as a superhero! First trailer for Birdman

Trailer Simon Brew 13 Jun 2014 - 06:35

Michael Keaton plays an actor who once starred as a big screen superhero in Birdman. Here's the first trailer...

Meet a film we've been hugely looking forward to for a long time now. Birdman is a black comedy, that sees Michael Keaton playing a superhero again. Well, sort of. He takes on the role of an actor most famous for playing a big screen superhero - Birdman - as he attempts to put on a Broadway play. In doing so, we follow his attempts to recover both his career and his family.

The film co-stars Edward Norton, Zach Galifianakis, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts and Andrea Riseborough, and it's been directed by
Alejandro González Iñárritu (best known for the brilliant Amores Perros, and also the likes of 21 Grams and Babel).

Birdman will be in cinemas later this year, and the first trailer for it has - ho ho - landed. Take a look and see what you reckon...

nice!

Dear Lord! What happened to Michael Keaton's face?!

That looks good from the trailer it seems like an indie take on the superhero genre stop us get superhero'd out. Nice pants ha ha

Hulk Vs batman...who wins

Now THIS looks interesting... Michael Keaton playing an actor that used to
play a superhero. Also, I feel kinda sad, because I look at this and
think "If Philip Seymour Hoffman was still alive, he'd probably be in
this."

I think this looks like a potentially brilliant film. I’ve no actual idea what
the film is about but I now really want to see it. I like that from a trailer, teaser
or otherwise. I hope it’s a better film than Iñárritu’s previous as I thought Biutiful
was pants. The cast look good too and as I’m in love with Andrea Riseborough
all looks well :)

Having Michael Keaton playing an washed up actor who used to play a superhero is a brilliant choice because he IS an washed up actor who used to play a superhero. The casting is very deliberate from that perspective. This movie pretty much is about Michael Keaton. You completely missed the point and the movie wouldent have the same impact if a drama actor like Hoffman did the role

LIKE

Haha, that wrestling scene looks like it could become a classic. :D

You're right for the most part, but he never actually said that Hoffman would be playing the same role.

FINALLY. an interesting looking film worth seeing.

Where did this film come from! looks great.

Hulk, no contest.

Anyone remember Condor-man?

They shot this when Hoffman was still alive. Therefore he was either not approached, not interested, or filming something else at the time. Either way, he wasn't going to be in it.

Batman to Superman: "Remember.... I beat you."
If he can take out Superman the Hulk shouldn't be too much trouble for him.

The same thing that'll happen to your face (if you're lucky enough).

Omg! I loved Condor-man as a kid! That would be an awesome tv show :)

No, YOU completely missed the point. I didn't claim Hoffman should have the leading role, I said he'd probably be in this. I even began my comment by saying "Michael Keaton playing an actor that used to
play a superhero" - so how did I miss the point?

Touché. He seemed like a good fit for a supporting character in a movie like this, it seems right up his street. Ah well, still looks great.

Being run over by a bulldozer and a marching band? Are you threatening me? oO
