Dean Parisot signs up for Bill And Ted 3
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are set to return to play Bill & Ted. And the helmer of Galaxy Quest is apparently on board, too...
As Sony struggles to get Ghostbusters 3 off the ground, and with New Line abandoning plans for Dumb And Dumber 2, the belated sequel is going through a bit of a rough patch. But one that does now seem to be making some progress is the oft-rumoured Bill & Ted 3.
It's been little secret that work has been underway on a new film for a while now, with both stars of the franchise, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, confirming that a screenplay was being put together. Now, though, things have taken a big step forward, as it appears that a director has been found for a third Bill & Ted adventure.
The news broke over the weekend that Dean Parisot is attached to helm the new film. Parisot seems a smart choice, too. His best film to date, Galaxy Quest, hits pretty much the right marks for this project, and presumably once he's done with his current movie, RED 2, he can look to shoot the new Bill & Ted movie next year.
Both Reeves and Winter are definitely back, and the script, by Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson, will apparently pick up the characters as they stand in the present day, as opposed to following the reboot path.
There's still some way to go on this one, but the return of Bill & Ted to the big screen has nonetheless moved closer.
