Michael Keaton confirms Tim Burton involved in Beetlejuice 2

Tim Burton and Michael Keaton have been talking to each other about Beetlejuice 2, with the project looking more likely...

Michael Keaton is back on the big screen at the moment in the reboot of RoboCop, where he plays the not very pleasant boss of OmniCorp. But it's not the only project based on an 80s hit that he's involved with. For a while now, he's - inevitably - been linked to Beetlejuice 2 as well.

This one seems to be coming along too. David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith have penned a screenplay, and last year, it was revealed that both Michael Keaton and Tim Burton were set to board the film too.

Chatting to MTV News about the project, Keaton confirmed that "I’ve e-mailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff. I always said that’s the one thing I’d like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another".

He then added that "now it looks like he is involved. And without giving too much away, we've talked to each other, and e-mailed each other, and if he's in, it's going to be hard not to be in".

Burton's still finishing off his upcoming film Big Eyes, which has Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams on board (our early prediction: it might just be the film to win Adams an Oscar). After that? It might be full steam ahead for Beetlejuice 2....

(Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. Bah. Nothing happened).

Best news of the Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy-O! Daaaaaaaaaaaaay-aaaay-aaaay-O!!

After that... Batman 3 please?

You say nothing happened, but I read your article out loud and now I'm sitting here in a waiting room with a shrunken head!

Cheeky! But can you imagine that. A conclusion to the Burton movies! A real Dark Knight Returns! It won't happen, but we can dream. I really liked the Nolan movies, but MY Batman was Keaton.

Beetlejuice was crap. I defy anyone to name a single Tim Burton film that is any good.

Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Beetle Juice, Edward Scissor Hands, Ed Wood, Batman Returns, Sweeny Todd.

Dark Doctor asked for "good" films.

So, assuming this does go ahead, will Burton be able to resist shoe-horning HB-C and J Depp into this? Both are great actors, but I am getting very tired of them having to be in almost every film he's made in the past ten years. Add to that the fact he doesn't seem able to put any limits on Depp's performances anymore and the whole thing risks being far removed from what we might expect from a Beetlejuice sequel. One nutty, hammy OTT character (in this case, Keaton - not as an actor but as the title character) will be enough, thanks.

Wouldn't that be the perfect start of the movie, when is number is finally up after all these years, and he still has that shrunken head.

Good point. Most of those are great films rather than just good.

Winona *has* to be in it.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.

Agreed Dave! I think the Nolan films are fantastic but the Keaton/Burton bat-film's dark gothic comic tone is brilliant! We can dream :) ...but as for now... bring on the Beetlejuice!!
