Tom Hardy on Bane and The Dark Knight Rises
Tom Hardy sheds a bit more light on the character of Bane, as seen in the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises...
We’re three months away from meeting Bane on the big screen, as Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises edges ever closer. And ahead of the film’s release, Tom Hardy has been talking about the character to Entertainment Weekly.
Firstly, he offers the same assurances about the audibility of his character that have been mentioned these past months. Hardy also reiterated that he had no qualms about playing a character who wears a mask on screen for the film. “It’s Chris Nolan!” he says. “I would wear a paper bag over my head for that man”.
Ultimately though, he draws a distinction between the character of Bane and that of The Joker in The Dark Knight, as played by the late Heath Ledger.
“The Joker didn’t care”, he argues. “He just wanted to see the world burn, and he was a master of chaos and destruction, unscrupulous and crazy. Bane is not that guy. There is a very meticulous and calculated way about Bane. There is a huge orchestration of organization to his ambition. He is also a physical threat to Batman. There is nothing vague about Bane. No jokes. He’s a very clean, clear villain.”
We reckon we’re due a new trailer for the film in the next month or so (that’s us speculating, though), so hopefully, we’ll be able to see and hear a bit more then…
