James Cameron confirms that Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are set for his next three Avatar films...

Things are beginning to get moving again where the Avatar sequels are concerned. Not that they haven't been, of course, with James Cameron and his team working on the scripts and pre-production. But physical production is getting closer, and Cameron has confirmed two expected pieces of casting.

Basically, both Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana have signed up to reprise their roles from the original movie in the upcoming sequels. Specifically, they've signed up for all three - Avatar 2, Avatar 3 and Avatar 4. The first of those is due in cinemas in December 2016.

No further casting has been announced thus far. But expect details to start filtering through soon, we'd wager.

1 was enough...

Id like to see Arnold in this in some capacity. I've said my peace. Let the stoning commence.

Much as Zoe Saldana was absoulutely superb in the first one the best folks in Avatar were Michelle Rodriguez (character died), Sigourney weaver (character dead) and the coffee guy with the scars (charcter dead). So who is going to be worth watching this time?
Bit like the Star wars prequels with no Han and Cheiwe?

He'd be great as the new military commander - even tougher than the first one!! Though Arnold as blue alien would be a laugh, the Sig Weav one was good.

He's been blue once that's plenty.

Weaver and Stephen Lang (or scars guy if you will) are coming back in some capacity in the next one apparently. It's sci fi. No one ever really dies in sci fi.

This is a bit of a non story really, I'm fairly certain Zoe and Sam were contractually obliged to do a couple more. I just hope Cameron puts the same effort into editing out all the parts where Worthington's Aussie accent comes through as he does with the sfx this time around.

Do wish they wouldn't announce things like this really, takes away from seeing the characters in peril and danger when I know they can't possibly die due to being contractually obligated not to.

Try and convince yourself that they _may_ only appear in the sequels in flashbacks, and therefore they still could die... ;-)

Let's hope they all die

"working on the scripts" I'll believe it when I see it..If I bother seeing it at all after the first one

Worthington needs the work. His career is flagging big time at the moment. I hope he can stick to one accent for more than a scene this time around.
