Marvel confirms start of filming on Ant-Man, full cast
Peyton Reed is now filming Ant-Man, as Marvel confirms the start of physical production...
It's been a long time coming, but filming has finally begun on Marvel Studios' long-mooted Ant-Man movie. Peyton Reed is now directing the film, of course, and the studio has confirmed that the production is going to be based in Atlanta, Georgia. It's one of the rare Marvel films that won't be shooting in the UK.
The official start-of-production press release confirms the cast, too. We know that Paul Rudd is Scott Lang/Ant-Man, that Michael Douglas is Dr Hank Pym, with Evangeline Lilly playing his daughter, Hope Van Dyne.
On top of those three, the cast also includes Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Abby Ryder Forston, Michael Pena, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, John Slattery and Gregg Turkington. Writer credits aren't mentioned in the press release, however.
There is a brief synopsis in there, though. It reads: "Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world".
Ant-Man is released on July 17th 2015.
