Fresh details on Anchorman 2
Anchorman 2 is to start shooting next March, and some fresh details on it have appeared...
Some new details have emerged regarding the long-mooted Anchorman 2, a film that suddenly got a green light earlier in the year, after a long period where it simply looked like it would never happen.
Director Adam McKay is currently doing press tours for the upcoming comedy, Fully Loaded, which he produced. And inevitably, the topic switched to Anchorman 2. McKay is still working on the screenplay with Will Ferrell, and the plan is to shoot the film starting in March 2013. That makes it possible, just, to squeeze Anchorman 2 into cinemas by the end of next year. It may yet be pushed to 2014, though.
McKay revealed that "We were going to do Anchorman 2 as a Broadway musical first, for like six months and then go shoot the movie. That was our initial idea". It was an idea they got some way down the proverbial road with, too, with full musical sequences already in place. Some of those songs, McKay told The Playlist, will be making it into Anchorman 2.
As for the setting of the film? "Even thought it's going to be a big silly movie, it's all about the rise of the new media and 24 hour news cycle, and there's a lot of interesting points to make about that while being silly".
