Sequel lined up for A Nightmare On Elm Street
Freddy Krueger is set to return again, as the talk begins of a 3D Nightmare On Elm Street sequel.
Never mind the fact that the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street isn't very good at all. The fact that it's opened with a sizeable $32.2m opening weekend in the States has moved it firmly into profitable territory, and as such, talk has inevitably turned to another adventure for Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger.
Platinum Dunes has never been shy of a sequel in the past, and as such, it's already pretty much confirmed that a new film is on the way. Warner Bros, the studio behind the remake, is keen to explore more entries in the franchise, while Brad Fuller, who produced the new Elm Street, has gone as far as to discuss shooting the next movie in the 3D.
Fuller told Dread Central that "Using 3D for a Nightmare sequel has to work conceptually for us, though. I don't want to shoehorn the story just so we can use 3D technology. I do really think this movie and the visual style would work well within a 3D environment, though, so you never know."
3D isn't the thing we'd be looking to sort out as a priority here (and it's already been employed in this franchise once before, of course). Sorting out a movie that didn't stink of cash-in from top to bottom would be higher up our list. But hey, what do we know.
Here's the story at Dread Central.
