If Will Smith in I Am Legend didn’t rock your boat, then how about digging out the first cinematic adaptation of Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel? Also filmed as The Omega Man, with Charlton Heston in the lead, it was Vincent Price who first tackled the project, in the shape of The Last Man On Earth.
Filmed in 1964, and certainly worth checking out even though there’s a feeling that the definitive take on I Am Legend is yet to be filmed, it’s now been made available for free viewing online. You can find it over at sumo.tv, a site that does have one or two items on it that may not be appropriate for work, but if you head straight to the Movie section, you’ll be fine. The direct link to the film is here.
There, you’ll find a good few hundred movies that you can also check out. Most of them you won’t have heard of, but surely that’s half the fun. Sumo allow you to view them all online for free, or you can download a version to keep for 10p. You can’t argue with that.
We also recommend you check out Plan 9 From Outer Space, the IMDB-bottom 100 regular Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Nosferatu, A Farewell To Arms and Night Of The Living Dead.
The direct link to the movie channel is here.
