Jon Favreau signs on for Iron Man 2

It's hardly a surprise, but he's finally inked the deal: Jon Favreau is back for the Iron Man's second outing...

It’s an expected move, but nonetheless, it’s now been confirmed that Jon Favreau has agreed to return to the director’s chair for the second Iron Man movie.Recently, Favreau had voiced concerns about the truncated production time for the second film. Ordinarily, a big blockbuster of the ilk of Iron Man II would have a three year production cycle (as the Batmans and Spider-mans of this world seem to have). Yet Iron Man II is earmarked for cinema screens on 30th April 2010. This follows the template of the Transformers sequel, which also has a two year production process (which it’s now half-way through).
The first film is rumoured to be heading for DVD and Blu-ray as early as the end of September. It’s currently taken over half a billion dollars worldwide, a total beaten only this year by Indiana Jones. No small feat, and we look forward to the Iron Man's return...
