Star Trek teaser trailer released!
Mark Pickavance
When is a teaser a real tease? When it's the one Paramount has just released for the new Star Trek, not due out till December...!
Published on Jan 22, 2008
The brand-new, brief-but-geek-indulgent trailer to the new Star Trek movie shows the construction of the NCC 1701 in meticulous detail, blended with the sounds of the Apollo Moon landings, and the voice of Leonard Nimoy. For anyone into Trek it's something they'll watch at least twenty times trying to learn as much as they can about this Enterprise design.
For me it poses a number of questions. They're building the ship on Earth, so how does it get into space? And we build aircraft and ships by gluing them these days, so why would they use arc welding in the 23rd century?
But these are minor points. The real problem is where are the characters? Because that's what Trek is really about, and the ship is only one of them.
Maybe we're getting ahead of ourselves, as this movie isn't out until December, and we've still not had a trailer/teaser for Crystal Skull, and that's out this summer!
Get yourself along to http://www.paramount.com/startrek/ and bring some overalls. Or check out the trailer - admittedly a not great YouTube version - below...
