What to expect from the RoboCop reboot

New RoboCop director Joe Padilha has been offering up some hints as to what to expect from his reboot on the franchise.

A couple of weeks ago, it was finally confirmed that MGM's long-planned rebooting of the RoboCop franchise had snagged a director. Long linked with Darren Aronofsky, before MGM hit massive financial woes and delayed everything, the director's chair instead has gone to Elite Squad helmer, Joe Padilha. And, chatting to Motion TV Online, he's revealed that the deal has actually been done for some time.
Padilha is currently working with the script to the film, alongside screenwriter Josh Zetumer, and when asked why he felt he'd been chosen for the job, he said, "I don't know. I think they saw my movies and felt there was something there that could bring to the present day this controversial, yet different, violent movie which is RoboCop, without misrepresenting it."
Padilha also said that there's no deadline for the film, at least not as things stand, adding, "When the screenplay turns out good enough, then we will start shooting."
We'd still wager that we're looking around the end of 2012 or summer 2013 for the return of RoboCop, but we'll keep you posted on that. In the meantime, here's out list of what we're looking for from the next RoboCop movie.
